Road Extraction from Aviris Using Spectral Mixture and Q-tree Filter Techniques

چکیده
1.0 INTRODUCTION Accurate road location and condition information are of primary importance in road infrastructure management. Additionally, spatially accurate and up-to-date road networks are essential in ambulance and rescue dispatch in emergency situations. However, accurate road infrastructure databases do not exist for vast areas, particularly in areas with rapid expansion. Currently, the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) extends great effort in field GPS mapping and condition assessment to meet these informational needs. This methodology, though effective, is both time-consuming and costly, because every road within a DOT’s jurisdiction must be field-visited to obtain accurate information. Therefore, the USDOT is interested in identifying new technologies that could help meet road infrastructure informational needs more effectively.

Using mixture analysis for soil information extraction from an AVIRIS scene at the Walnut Gulch
Spectral Mixture Analysis (SMA) has been used to extract qualitative and quantitative information about common features in an imagery at the subpixel level. At the Walnut Gulch Experimental Watershed (Arizona) this technique was used to produce the soil spectral map and quantify the fractions of each soil endmember on an AVIRIS image. SMA was applied on the base of image and reference endmember...
متن کاملAutomatic Road Detection and Extraction From MultiSpectral Images Using a New Hierarchical Object-based Method
Road detection and Extraction is one of the most important issues in photogrammetry, remote sensing and machine vision. A great deal of research has been done in this area based on multispectral images, which are mostly relatively good results. In this paper, a novel automated and hierarchical object-based method for detecting and extracting of roads is proposed. This research is based on the M...
متن کاملRetrieval of Apparent Surface Reflectance from AVIRIS Data: A Comparison of Empirical Line, Radiative Transfer, and Spectral Mixture Methods
T h r e e methods for converting Airborne Visible/Infrared Imaging Spectrometer (A VIRIS) radiance data to apparent surface reflectance were compared using data collected over the Lunar Crater Volcanic Field in Nevada and the Pavant Butte tuff cone in Utah. The methods examined were the empirical line method, radiative transfer modeling (using LOWTRAN 7), and spectral mixture analysis using ref...
متن کاملSPOT-5 Spectral and Textural Data Fusion for Forest Mean Age and Height Estimation
Precise estimation of the forest structural parameters supports decision makers for sustainable management of the forests. Moreover, timber volume estimation and consequently the economic value of a forest can be derived based on the structural parameter quantization. Mean age and height of the trees are two important parameters for estimating the productivity of the plantations. This research ...
متن کاملSpectral Unmixing for the Classification of Hyperspectral Images
Spectral mixing is inherent in any finite-resolution digital imagery of a heterogeneous surface, so that mixed pixels are inevitably created when multispectral images are scanned. Solving the spectral mixture problem is, therefore, involved in image classification, referring to the techniques of spectral unmixing. The invention of imaging spectrometers especially promotes the potential of apply...
